Both gites are situated in the hamlet of Tour de Faure on the hillside of the Lot Valley with lovely views on the medieval village of St Cirq Lapopie. The small road leading to this hamlet is a dead end, so it is a very quiet and relaxing place even though it is within a reasonable walking distance of the bakery, the grocery, the river Lot and the beautiful village of St Cirq Lapopie.

These two typical stones houses are very different from  each other dating back to XVI century with thick walls, stone sink and unusual roof shapes. They also have been awarded 3 stars for comfort and charm.

Activities

One thing is sure .... whenever you come, as long as you stay, you will never lack of activities!

• Hiking and Biking or horse riding on steep or flat roads in the forest or around the countryside. Swimming, fishing, canoeing on the river Lot and Célé. Also house boat hire and passengers boats on the river Lot.
• Visit prehistoric famous Grottes de Pech-Merle, Cènevières castle, open air museum in Cuzals. Also the city of Cahors at 30 minutes drive away and the famous Pont Valentré and Cathédral.
• There is also the famous Cahors vineyard, Figeac with the Champollion museum is as well worth visiting.
• Wherever you stop, enjoy the French cuisine in restaurants or small auberges. Try duck liver and comfit, goat cheese, pasties (traditional cake), in autumn fogies like Cépes and Girolles and in winter the famous Truffles.
• All around, enjoy the typical local markets: Limogne Cajarc, Concots, St Gery, Cabrerets or St Cirq Lapopie in summer and in winter the national truffles market of Lalbenque.

Travel details

• The main airport is Toulouse over one hour drive away, but there is also Rodez, Brive, Bergerac at the same distance.
• Train station in Cahors (Paris Toulouse) and bus shuttle to Tour de Faure.
• A 20 is about 20 minutes away if you decide to travel by car.
